Maserati will bring the GranCarbio MC to the Paris Motor Show this week, we now have official confirmation! The first pictures leaked before the weekend and now, official details have been released. Curiously, the press release doesn’t mention the powerplant so we won’t be able to confirm statistics until we get to Paris.
We can tell you that the GranCabrio MC sits 48 millimeters longer than the GranCabrio and GranCabrio Sport thanks to an MC Stradale-inspired front spoiler. The GranCabrio looks almost identical to the Stradale with a new front and rear bumper, incorporating a third brake light into the rear spoiler is the only different we can see. The body kit is proved on the race track to optimise aerodynamic lift and flow.
The rear spoiler can be ordered in body colour or in carbon fiber as one of the few options. Interestingly, Maserati decided to release the GranCabrio as a four seater which gives it more touring capacity. We can’t wait to see it.
The engine is almost certainly the 4.7 liter V8 featured in the MC Stradale and every other GranCabrio. The question mark is over the power. Maserati’s GranTurismo Sport was recently unveiled with 460hp, 10hp more than the MC Stradale. It will be interesting to see if Maserati chose to offer the full 460hp for the GranCabrio MC.
Aside from the engine, the MC Stradale also featured a new set of wheels, weighing 5kg less than the standard units, carbon fiber seats, Alcantara interior touches, 39kg in insulation optimisations and carbon ceramic brakes. Maserati also added stiffer springs, a larger anti roll bar and lowered to Stradale by 10mm at the front and 12mm at the rear. Expect the same changes from the GranCabrio MC!
