Our favourite Latvians are back once again with a new concept which we’re told will is ready for customer orders! Dartz teamed up with Saxon Automobile this time to offer something new. They say that the car defines a new niche in the market place which they’ve named B.N.U.D.S; Bespoke, each car will be made to order, Noble, the name Dartz has history, Urban, designed for the city, Desert, with rally performance, Safety, solid construction.
The car is named after famous Russian Driver, Andrew Nagel, who came first at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1912, and apparently crossed the Sahara in 1913 using a Russobaltique car. The idea is that while the chassis is the same, with a titanium frame, customers will be able to choose their own exterior design. The sketches come from designer Alex Isaev and the rendering from German designer Pochwatta.
The Dartz-SAM Nigal Dakar will feature a Mercedes AMG-sourced V8 Bi-turbo engine. From 5.5 liters, Dartz hope to offer 650hp and 850Nm of torque. Enough for a top speed of 250km/h. Coupled to this, Dartz will install a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox with an AP Racing clutch and differentials. The whole system will be four wheel drive sitting on top of a titanium tubular frame chassis with carbon kevlar elements. Weight will be between 1,890kg and 1,990kg.
Price for the Nigal Dakar will be between 250,000 and 300,000 euros for base model. Dartz plans to produce ten units next year, ramping up to fourty units per year by 2015. This is believed to be the first bespoke SUV to hit the market.
