Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish

For those waiting for the official release of the Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish aka Vanquish Mk2 tomorrow, we have a surprise. Below you will find all the information you would like to know about the brand new model and successor to the outgoing DBS. Official press pictures will follow, because Aston Martin only shared the specifications and general information via their website.

Styling cues such as the elegant new waist, elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades are derived from the One-77 supercar. Another new design characteristic is the Aero Duct on the rear boot lid.

The newly two-door coupe is available in a 2+0 or optional 2+2 seating configuration. The new generation has bonded aluminum and carbon fiber VH structure. The body is made of aluminium, magnesium, alloy and carbon fiber composite. The torsional rigidity is improved by more than 25 percent. The front chassis structure is a full 13 percent lighter than the DBS.

The all-alloy front-mid mounted 5,935cc V12 engine has independent quad variable camshaft timing. The engine produces 573hp at 6,750rpm and a maximum torque of 620Nm at 5,500rpm. The zero to 100km/h sprint is done in 4.1 seconds and the top speed is 295km/h, which is slightly slower than the DBS.

The twelve-cylinder powerplant is linked to a six-speed touchtronic two automatic/sequential manual gearbox and the power is converted to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. The wonderful exhaust note is produced by a stainless steel exhaust system with active bypass valves.

The new AM 310 Vanquish rides on 9Jx20 inch Pirelli P Zero 255/35 ZR20 wheels at the front and 11.5Jx20 inch Pirelli P Zero 305/30 ZR20 wheels at the rear. Stopping power is achieved via ventilated carbon ceramic discs and 398mm diameter with six-piston calipers at the front from the One-77, and ventilated carbon ceramic discs and 360mm diameter with four-piston calipers at the back.

For the first time on an Aston Martin, a motorsport-derived Launch Control system is fitted. It works to deliver the optimum take-off from a standing start – balancing throttle, gearbox and various traction aids to deliver a perfect launch.

On the inside you can get all the requirements you would like to have in a luxury GT. The Vanquish offers similar options to the DBS with some additional extras and refinements from the One-77. Such as a black or color-keyed One-77 leather steering wheel with Black Alcantara inserts, a new infotainment system also used in the hypercar and a luggage space of 368 liter, which is more than 60 percent larger than that of the DBS.

Designed and hand-built at Aston Martin’s global headquarters at Gaydon in Warwickshire the new Vanquish, available as a 2+2 or 2+0, sits atop a broad line-up of world-class sports cars including the DB9, V8 Vantage and four-door Rapide.

Priced from £189,995 RRP first deliveries of the new sports car are expected to begin in the UK and Continental Europe late in 2012.

  1. I don’t understand the big fuss with the one-77 design, It was such a great disappointment and now they just took the slick design of the old DBS and ruined it but thats a great news to me always liked the DBS and now that there is a new one coming out
it means that the prices are going down for the old one and I can finally flip my R8 for one

  2. I don’t understand Aston Martin’s line of thinking here. Why just rebody the DBS and add a couple horses? It’s not like the car is any faster, and knowing them, it will probably cost more now. They need an actual sporty car to keep up with other manufacturers, not another grand tourer.

  3. The MK1 was certainly the most beautiful Aston of modern area… about its gearbox, it has been considerably improved on the S version of 528 BHP. Have you ever driven one ? Just don’t listen to Clarkson. The gearbox just works perfectly.
