Another welcome surprise at Auto Italia 2012 was the AC 378 GT Zagato. The AC Cars team will be building the older AC models at the AC Heritage Centre at Brooklands in Surrey, UK. This means that they are perfectly placed to show of their newer cars right on their own doorstep! The Italian connection comes through the design, penned by legendary Italian design house, Zagato.

The 378 GT was the originally the Zagato Perana Z-One, first presented at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2009. In production spec, the AC 378 GT is powered by a General Motors 6.2 liter V8 featuring 434bhp. The new model will be sold alongside the firm’s traditional Cobra line-up and will cost around £ 90,000. The AC 378 GT Zagato marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of the original AC Cobra.

The AC 378 GT Zagato will be assembled in Germany and South Africa. Its display at the 2012 Auto Italia Brooklands event should be considered its UK debut. It went on display at the Geneva Motor Show this year, however, an altercation with customs meant that the car didn’t make it to the stands until after the press days had finished. We hadn’t seen it in the flesh until now.

Let us know what you think of the car!
