The Bentley Continental GTC V8 has made its European debut here at the Geneva Motor Show 2012. The British car brand displays the new V8 version on the stand together with two other new releases. The new V8 engine will be available in two models; the Continental GT and the Continental GT Convertible.
These models are distinguished by a black gloss matrix grille with chrome frame and center bar, a red enamel Bentley ‘B’ badge, and a black matrix three-segment lower front bumper divided by distinctive body-coloured strakes. At the rear, chromed ‘figure eight’ exhaust tailpipes, a dark lower valance and red enamel ‘B’ bootlid badge show the identity of the new V8s.
The new 4.0 liter, twin turbocharged V8 has been placed in the front of the Bentley Continental GT coupé. The new Bentley V8 engine delivers maximum power of 507hp at 6,000 rev/min and a peak torque of 660Nm, which is available across virtually the entire rev range from 1,700 to 5,000 rev/min.
Combined with a new close-ratio eight-speed automatic transmission, this translates into a 0-60mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds for the GT coupe, 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, and a top speed of 188mph or 303km/h.
Bentley’s new 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 is 40 per cent more efficient than the company’s W12, yet still produces 500bhp. For more information on the new GT V8 and GTC V8 click here.
