Next-gen BMW 7-Series Uses Carbon Fiber

According to BMW R&D manager Klaus Draeger, the next-generation BMW 7-Series will use carbon fiber in its construction. Draeger told British car magazine Autocar, the new 7-series’ structure would probably feature a mix of materials. The carbon fiber parts will be combined with the conventional aluminium and steel parts.

The flagship saloon luxury car will be the first mainstream BMW model to use the lightweight material. The release is expected in 2015 and the information suggests that the roof, bonnet and bootlid are most likely to be made from carbon fiber.
