Mercedes-Benz is expected to give AMG the green light to develop the SLC which should rival the Porsche 911.
The success of the SLS has opened doors for a smaller version. The SLC car will be ‒ just as the SLS ‒ entirely designed in-house by AMG and would further establish Mercedes’ high performance division as a sports cars manufacturer. In an interview with AutoCar, AMG boss Ola Källenius said:
AMG is a financial company and runs with targets, just like every other company. These products can’t just be built for fun. We need a reasonable return to new fund projects. But the SLS has a return, as well as succeeding by building a brand and being fascinating technologically. Could we grow the family? Probably, yes, but that is not a decision we’ve made at this stage. What is clear is that we have entered a segment with an overwhelming reaction from customers and fans ‒ and many of them are entirely new customers to AMG ‒ so it would certainly be the right strategy to grow the AMG brand.
The new sports car, sometimes referred to as the ‘Baby SLS’, is likely to be powered by a twin-turbo 5.5 liter V8 engine with up to 500hp, which will be transferred to the rear wheels. Acceleration from standstill to 100km/h should take four seconds and the top speed will be 290km/h.
The Mercedes SLC will be offered as a coupe and roadster. The two-seater is expected to go on sale by late 2013 for a rumored price tag is of approximately £ 80,000, which equals € 96,000 or $ 127,000.

It looks like a pretty cool car. Ultra similar to the SLS though.
