General Motors is currently working on the seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette. Development of the American supercar is well underway as the first shots of a prototype being tested in cold weather has appeared.

Albeit being heavily camouflaged, these shots provide a first look at the Corvette’s new styling. The upcoming Corvette appears to have a longer wheelbase than the current model (C6), and features the remarkable quad exhaust-pipe system at the rear. The car will retain the distinctive wedge-shaped silhouette with classic long-nose ‒ following the ‘evolution, not revolution’ design philosophy.

The new Corvette is rumored to be powered by a 5.5 liter V8 engine with direct injection and variable valve timing. This engine will likely provides up to 440hp. The 2014 model of the Corvette will also be available with a seven-speed manual transmission.

The next-generation Corvette will be officially unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show and is expected to hit the showrooms in the summer next year.
