David Dopp, the winner of a Lamborghini LP640 Roadster in Maverik Inc.’s “Joe Schmo to Lambo” contest, crashed the car just six hours after receiving the prize. The father of six entered the competition 18 months ago and received the car over the weekend.
Police reports say that Dopp was travelling between 40 and 50mph on a 35-mph road when he hit a patch of black ice or gravel. The car then went over a curb, off the road and skidded 75 feet into a field. The car is now with Lamborghini Las Vegas who will quote for damage to the oil pan, front and rear bumper. Luckily Dopp was insured on the car and no injuries were sustained by either passenger or driver.
