IAA 2011: Bentley Continental GT Convertible

IAA 2011 Bentley Continental GT Convertible

The second generation of Bentley’s Continental GTC convertible has made its public debut today at the IAA 2011 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Twenty-inch wheels are now standard with two styles of 21-inch wheel, a first for GTC, available as an option. The four-seater luxury convertible features a new, even more spacious and luxurious cabin, with soft-touch leather hides, a range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals and deep-pile carpets.

The 2012 GTC is powered by a more powerful 6.0 liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine linked to a QuickShift transmission. Power output is raised from 560hp to 575hp and the torque has been increased by 50Nm to 700Nm. 0-100km/h is done in 4.8 seconds and the top speed 314km/h.

A wider track, front and rear, sharper steering and retuned suspension are combined with a new 40:60 rear torque bias, compared with 50:50 of the original GTC. The GTC saves 70kg of weight in comparison to its predecessor.
