American tuner STaSIS Engineering has unveiled the new package for the Audi R8 which will be available for the British market. This package, named the STaSIS Engineering Audi R8 V8 Challenge Extreme Edition offers the prospect of an R8 with 120bhp extra while the weight of the car is less than the factory V10 version.
The STaSIS Engineering Audi R8 V8 Challenge Extreme Edition delivers faster acceleration, improved suspension response, a spine-tingling soundtrack and improved handling abilities. Compared to the 420bhp of the stock version of the R8, this package offers 28 percent more power resulting in a total output of 540bhp. That is even more than the 525bhp of the stock Audi R8 V10. The torque increased from the original 350lb-ft into 435lb-ft which is also even more than the 391lb-ft of the R8 V10.
The key technical features of this package are as follows: The engine received an Eaton / Magnusson TVS 1900 supercharger running 7.5 psi of boost, independent charge cooler system to ensure consistent high power output, CNC billet alloy machined intake plenum for durability and strength, and a high performance STaSIS ECU remap. The exhaust is a 3.0 inch TIG welded and stainless steel, cross-flow exhaust system with reduced back pressure for improved power and efficiency.
To ensure braking power Alcon 390mm at the front and 355mm brakes at rear were installed. The suspension received an upgrade as well by lowering the springs to improve handling and give a more aggressive appearance while retaining ride quality, matched bump stops and the factory ‘drive select’ feature retained. For the wheels STaSIS installed 9.5×20 inch lightweight forged aluminium at the front and 12×20 inch forged aluminium at the rear with high performance low profile tires.
Thanks to these upgrades, the Audi R8 V8 Challenge Extreme Edition can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, compared to the 4.4 seconds of the stock R8 and 3.7 of the R8 V10. While the performance figures match those of the V10 powered R8 which weighs 1,620kg, the weight of the STaSIS Engineering Audi R8 V8 Challenge Extreme Edition (1,575kg) remained almost similar to the 1,560kg of the stock R8.
