Audi used the stage of this year’s New York International Auto Show to debut yet another limited edition of their Audi R8 V10. Finished in the colors of Audi’s sport marque, the 2017 Audi R8 V10 ‘Audi Sport’ Edition is limited to just 200 examples.

Interior

This limited-production R8 articulates a motorsport vibe like never before. It’s a celebration if you will, of the various successes Audi proclaimed in recent times. “In 2016, we had the most successful year in the history of Audi Sport customer racing, our customer sport department,” said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Audi Sport GmbH. “With the R8 LMS we brought home 24 titles, scored 85 race victories and tallied up over 100 other podium finishes.”

This special edition Audi R8 is a blend of some of Audi’s signature colors. In addition to the floret silver, matt or gloss, the selection of paint finishes includes mythos black and ibis white. Regardless of the chosen body color, the car’s distinctive sideblades and mirror housings will be finished in a contrasting brilliant red.

Audi Sport GmbH has equipped the special edition with 10-spoke Y design 20-inch wheels of forged aluminum, shod with 245/30 front tires and 305/30 rear tires.

The interior too, is something special. Aluminum door sills bear the Audi Sport logo that illuminates upon opening the doors and an exclusive badge expressing the number out of 200 units. The flashy red forms a nice contrast with the black Nappa leather interior and perfectly takes over from the car’s exterior design. More exclusiveness is found in the details: exclusive R8 emblems are embossed into the backrests of the sports seats and contrasting stitching further accents the steering wheel, door trims and seats. Further interior decoration comes in the form of gloss carbon inlays.

Customers can order the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Audi Sport Edition from May this year onwards, starting in Germany at a price of €181,900 for the 540 hp (379 kW) naturally-aspirated V10 model. For the V10 plus model, good for 610 hp (449 kW), customers will have to pay a premium starting at €205,800. Deliveries are expected late summer of 2017.
