Official: 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC

The first AMG version of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has arrived! The Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC has officially arrived, ready for first deliveries in September 2016. The E 43 gets the same 3.0 litre V6 biturbo engine as the rest of the 43-series cars; a taster for the inevitable E 63 which will follow!

As we’ve said above, the Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC gets a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine with two new turbochargers and an output of 401 hp together with 520 newton meters of torque. The 4MATIC four-wheel drive system gives a rear biased 31:69 torque distribution. Power is routed through a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and performance is an impressive 4.6 seconds to 100 km/h with a top speed limited to 250 km/h.

The Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC rides on a retuned sports suspension based on the AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension system. The transmission modes include Sport, Sport Plus, Eco and Comfort modes together with a Manual mode. Adaptive damping is specifically tuned to this model and the car features more negative camber on the front and rear axels.

The Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC gets a new look with three large openings in the front apron, two elegant cross fins on the outer cooling openings, a diamond grille with chromed pins, a louvre in high-gloss black and AMG badging at the front. The E 43 4MATIC also receives 19-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels and two chrome plated exhaust tailpipes together with a spoiler lip and rear diffuser.

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC offers sports seats clad in ARTICO man-made leather or DINAMICA microfibre in black. Nappa leather is an option while the door centre panels and the dashboard are finished in ARTICO man-made leather with red topstitching. The pedals, a black roof lining and red seat belts finish the look. A new multifunction sports steering wheel and an AMG instrument cluster are also included.

The Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC will get an official debut at the New York Auto Show this month!
