The 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe Edition 1 has just been introduced alongside the C63 DTM racer. As with other Edition 1 models from Mercedes-Benz, the C63 Coupe Edition 1 features a number of special visual and aerodynamic modifications over the standard car. It will be unveiled at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015.

The Edition 1 models are available in both C63 Coupe and C63 S Coupe specifications. The range-topping S model features Magno Selenite Grey matte paint completed with a number of bright yellow accents similar to those from the DTM race car. The car also rides on a set of matte black forged twin five-spoke wheels that are 19×9 at the front with 255/35 tyres and 20×10.5 at the rear with 285/30 tyres.

Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe S Edition 1 features carbon ceramic brakes as standard to dramatically improve its braking performance.

For Mercedes-Benz fans looking for something a little more restrained, a second Edition 1 variant is available for the C63 Coupe and C63 S Coupe. Instead of the yellow stripes, it features matte grey stripes and outer wheel rims but also comes with the carbon ceramic brakes. In both variants, the AMG Aerodynamics Package includes a large front splitter, new side skirts, aggressive rear diffuser and a new bootlid lip spoiler.

Inside, the Edition 1 models includes AMG Performance seats upholstered in luxurious Nappa leather. Completing the cabin is yellow contrast stitching in the door panels, arm rests, steering wheel and instrument cluster. A flat-bottomed steering wheel is also included in the Edition 1 package.

Both the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe and C63 S Coupe can be ordered with either of the two Edition 1 packages from launch.

From a mechanical standpoint, both Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe models utilise a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine. The entry-level model pumps out 469 hp between 5500 and 6250 rpm while the more potent ‘S’ branded model delivers 510 hp between the same rev range. Torque for the two models stands at 650 Nm and 700 Nm respectively. Consequently, the C63 Coupe will hit 100 km/h in 4 seconds while the C63 S Coupe will reach the same mark in 3.9 seconds.

“Affalterbach. Mercedes-AMG is bringing the C 63 Coupé Edition 1 special model to the starting line. The exclusive colour combination in designo Magno Selenite Grey with yellow film coating and black wheels with yellow painted rim flanges reflects the graphic design of the Frankfurt International Motor Show launch version of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM racing coupé which will be used in the DTM next year. The special model is equipped with Performance seats and an aerodynamics package, highlighting its proximity to motorsport.

The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé and C 63 S Coupé are also available as “Edition 1″ special models from market launch. The extraordinary combination of exclusive design and equipment characteristics is inspired by the optical appearance of future Mercedes-AMG racing coupés which will compete in the popular DTM series in 2016.

Two exterior designs address different customer wishes. The first variant, available exclusively for the S-Model is particularly striking: The colour scheme in designo Magno Selenite Grey matt paint with yellow film coating borrows the look of the Frankfurt International Motor Show launch version of the 2016 C 63 DTM and thus highlights its proximity to motorsport. Yellow sport stripes adorn the engine bonnet, roof, boot lid as well as the side lines above the rocker panels.

With yellow painted rim flanges, the extremely light, matt black Performance forged wheels in 5 double-spoke design also set a distinctive accent. Size 9.0J x 19 with 255/35 R 19 tyres are used at the front, 10.5J x 20 with 285/30 R 20 tyres at the rear. The custom sports tyres offer a tangibly enhanced level of traction on dry roads. The C 63 S Coupé Edition 1 is equipped with ceramic high-performance compound brake system offering the ultimate deceleration values and lower unsprung mass, thus increasing performance on the racetrack.

The exterior of the second Edition 1 variant is more restrained. The sport stripes are rendered in graphite grey matt and the rim flanges of the matt black forged wheels have a high-sheen cross-spoke design. Sport tyres and the ceramic high-performance compound brake system are available as an option for this variant. In addition, all exterior paints are available for this variant.

In both variants, the AMG Aerodynamics Package in high-gloss black enhances the racing-inspired appearance. The additional large front spoiler, specific side skirts, lateral airflow breakaway edges in the rear apron, the specific rear diffuser and the specific airflow break-away edge on the boot lid not only reduce the lift but also sharpen the optical impression.

The AMG Night Package with chrome-plated tailpipe trim is also in the series-production version of the Edition 1.
The following features are included:
Radiator grille with double plate in silver chrome
A-wing of the front apron and A-wing trim strip in high-gloss black
Side sill panel inserts in high-gloss black
Waistline trim strip and window frame in high-gloss black
Rear apron trim strip in high-gloss black
Exterior mirror housing in high-gloss black
Heat-insulating, dark tinted glass from the B-pillar backwards
Exhaust system with two chrome-plated twin tailpipe tips

The genuine racing feel continues in the interior. The AMG Performance seats are upholstered in Nappa leather, including the colour yellow in the contrast stitching of the specific diamond pattern. In addition, the more sharply-contoured seat shape enhances lateral support, particularly in curves taken at high speed. Yellow contrast stitching is also found in the door centre panels, arm rests, the steering wheel rim as well as the beltline.

Further yellow accents adorn the instrument cluster, the AMG-specific analogue in IWC design and the floor mats. With the Performance steering wheel of DINAMICA microfibre featuring a flattened bottom, the driver always has the C 63 Coupé securely under control. The middle section trim in matt carbon colour also gives the unmistakable signal of what the Edition 1 is about: Uncompromising dynamics at the highest level.

The technical set-up is ideal: strikingly flared front and rear wheel arches, an increased track width and larger wheels give the new C 63 Coupé a muscular look while at the same time providing a basis for the highly agile longitudinal and lateral dynamics. The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with 350 kW (476 hp) or 375 kW (510 hp) guarantees spectacular driving performance, supported by the sophisticated AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, the specific AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes, the rear-axle limited-slip differential or the dynamic engine mounts in the C 63 S Coupé.”
