It has emerged that the potent Porsche Cayman GT4 will be offered with a PDK transmission in the near future.

When it launched at Geneva, the Cayman GT4 really got Porsche and car fans in general excited largely because of its use of a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. Even the 991 GT3 RS isn’t available as a manual. Now due to demand from some customers, a PDK option will soon arrive for the Cayman GT4.

The news was revealed by the head of Porsche’s GT division, Andreas Preuninger, while speaking with the Planet-9 forums. While Preuninger failed to reveal which PDK transmission the Cayman GT4 will be available with, it seems inevitable that it will come at a premium to the manual ‘box.

As a reminder, the Porsche Cayman GT4 is powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six that produces 385 horsepower, a power unit that has been derived from the 991 911 Carrera S. Of course as with all other Cayman models, the GT4’s engine is mid-mounted.

With the manual gearbox, zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is dispatched in a brisk 4.4-seconds and it will continue to accelerate to a top speed of 295 km/h (183 mph).
