Jaguar F-Type R Coupe Bloodhound SSC

The covers have just been taken off the Jaguar F-Type R AWD Bloodhound SSC Rapid Response Vehicle. As the name implies, the British sports car will act as a support vehicle for the Bloodhound SSC supersonic car which Jaguar has partnered with.

The Rapid Response Vehicle will power the oxidizer pump used by the rocket as well as the Bloodhound’s hydraulic services. The car will be one of just a fleet of support vehicles provided by Jaguar in the Bloodhound SSC’s world land speed record attempt. Making the Rapid Response Vehicle unique is its custom livery combining dark blue elements with bright orange accents alongside orange side skirts, wing mirrors and wheels.

Beneath the skin, the Jaguar F-Type R AWD Bloodhound SSC Rapid Response Vehicle uses the same engine as the standard F-Type R AWD Coupe. That means it features a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine producing an insane 550 hp. Consequently, Jaguar promises the F-Type R Coupé can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds compared to the 4.2 second sprint of the RWD variant.

The Rapid Response Vehicle will be equipped with an advanced communications system which was tested and validated late last year. The British sports car was driven head-to-head at top speed with a similarly equipped jet flown at 925 km/h and just 50 feet above the ground. The combined closing speed of almost 1126 km/h enabled the test to simulate conditions similar to those in Andy Green during the record attempt.
