Jeep have unveiled the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk which it says is the most powerful and quickest SUV ever produced. The changes also make it one of the more desirable SUV’s on the US market. There is no word on pricing yet or whether it will be made available to customers worldwide.

The 707-horsepower Trackhawk uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 645 lb.-ft. of torque. It is built from cast iron with water jackets between cylinders for cooling. It includes a forged steel crank and forged pistons. The supercharger is fed by a lower front facia scoop in place of the drivers side fog lamp.

It sprints to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, dispatching of a quarter mile in just 11.6 seconds (116 mph) and will eventually reach speeds of 180 mph. To cope with the additional power, Jeep have upgrades the TorqueFlite eight-speed gearbox and driveline components. Launch control is programmed as standard. A new Brembo brake system ensures that it takes just 114 feet to reach a stop from 60 mph. They are covered with 20 by 10 inch titanium wheels.

There is a five drive-mode Selec-Track system and Bilstein adaptive damping suspension. The modes include an Auto mode which uses a 40/60 percent rear torque split, Sport with an increased shift time and 35/65 split, Track with a 30/70 torque split and Tow and Snow modes. Power is transferred to an on-demand four-wheel drive system which includes an electronic limited slip rear differential and a single speed active transfer case.

On the outside, the look is aggressive with a ride height 1 inch lower than non-SRT Grand Cherokee models. It gets fender flares, side sills and a new hood. The front grille is new, as are the bi-xenon headlights and quad tip tailpipes. The Trackhawk badge on the liftgate features a Liquid Titanium Chrome outline and Matte Black background.

Colour choices on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk include nine exterior colours: Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Diamond Black, Ivory Tri-coat, Bright White, Velvet Red, Rhino (exclusive), Redline 2 (exclusive) and True Blue.

Inside, the driver gets a 7-inch instrument cluster while the centre console features an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Trackhawk Performance Pages. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto options are also included. The interior surfaces feature premium soft-touch materials, unique Light Black Chrome finishes and carbon fiber spears.
