If you love art, chances are you have already heard of Laurence Gartel, the pioneer of digital art and one of the few who have worked on almost every field of art. He has worked with numerous museums, motor shows and most notably as the official artist for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. We thought it would be good to show you some of his work related to cars. Gartel has managed to work on a variety of art cars over the years, these are the top ten we could gather from his collection.

1959 Cadillac Limousine (SX Liquors)

The Cadillac Limousine was created for the SX Liquors company. They wanted to have a “Night Car” which they could drive around to various restaurants and clubs in order to make a big entry! This was the perfect vehicle to do it in. The car was themed in 1959 as Hawaii was becoming a State and the motif of “Tiki” was in vogue. We were sending
an astronaut up to space as the Cold War was settling in between the US and Russia. Therefore the car was decorated and designed with the period of the times in mind. The car was first unveiled at the Dupont Registry Concours D’Elegance Boca Jetport Party in 2012. It made its way out to Las Vegas for the National Beverage Convention.

2016 BMW Mini

I was the Feature of the Oslo Motor Show and produced a BMW Mini in front of 40,000 people. FiA President Jean Todt passed by my installation while I was in progress and discussed the creative process. Following the completion of the Art Car, we took the vehicle for a drive around Oslo. We also drove to Losby Gods Manor where the recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize reside. The Car struck a big cord with the people of Norway as an American Artist touched their sensitivities in new ways.

2012 VW Amarok Art Truck

This vehicle was commissioned by CareConnect in Germany. It is the first Solar Powered Satellite Art Truck. Created at the Hamburger Mall in Hamburg, during Christmas time 2015. After completing the production of the vehicle, it was then driven through five countries where I arrived in Monte Carlo as the Official Artist of the Monaco International Film Festival.

Chrysler 300 Art Car

The Chrysler 300 Art Car was created for participation in the Fireball Run Adventure Rally. The race was created to raise awareness for Missing Children. In 10 years 40 children have been recovered due to the actions of the rally. The insignia was placed on the vehicle once the car arrived in Ohio where the race started. The rally is an 8 day sojourn which ended in Bangor, Maine. Hundreds of thousands of people have seen this car as the vehicle remained covered with stickers for five years. The Chrysler 300 Art Car performed at Watkins Glen, Daytona Raceway, as well as at Lyme Rock. As the Feature Guest of the 113th New York International Auto Show I had my own Pavilion of over 30,000 square feet filled with Art Cars and Motorcycles. The Chrysler 300 was the People’s Choice.
