When going on a roadtrip we always try to give you an insight into the world of cars and luxury. Nothing is more relaxing than enjoying a luxury hotel after a long day of driving. During our last roadtrip, which took us across Switzerland, we found the perfect place to relax and spent the night at THE VIEW Lugano.
The view Lugano is a contemporary hotel which opened her doors for the public in June 2015. The hotel is a member of the prestigious group of “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” and was awarded best contemporary hotel in Switzerland. We got the chance to experience the hotel ourselves and see if it lives up to the name.
Location
The hotel is positioned on a strategic location in the hills of Lugano, just a 3-minute drive from the city center. A small road leads you up in the hills of Lugano-Paradiso and after passing some luxury residences you end up at THE VIEW. When arriving by car you immediately drive into the parking garage of the hotel where you will be welcomed by two hosts.
As the name already suggests, the hotel gives you a great view over Lugano and its surrounding mountains. All rooms face the same direction to ensure all the guests enjoy the same view.
Design
The contemporary hotel breathes luxury and the interior was inspired by that of a luxurious yacht.
The rooms are designed to make you feel like you reside in a luxurious cabin. By using exclusive materials such as naval teak floors, chrome steel finishing and leather furnishing the hotel managed to create the same atmosphere that you would experience on a yacht.
Rooms
During our stay we were given a ‘Junior Suite’ on the first floor. The first thing we noticed is the spacious balcony and the great view the suite offers. As you would expect from a five star hotel, the suite offers you all the comfort and luxury one can wish for. All rooms come with a big 46” flat screen tv, wireless internet access and Multimedia room control. A Junior suite consists of one big area and a smart design blends bath- and bedroom perfectly together. Right behind the kingsize bed you find a big bathtub. All suites come with a chromo therapy shower which is possibly the best shower I’ve ever been into. The hotel offers a pillow and pillowcase menu and a selection of bed linen to choose from before arrival to customize the bed perfectly to a customers’ taste.
In total the hotel consists of eighteen suites comprising of sixteen junior suites and two master suites. The junior suites measure 50m² and the master suites measure an impressive 105m². The master suites can be divided into two separate areas thanks to a sliding door, creating a separate business room or another bedroom for two.
Wellness
Located at the heart of the hotel is the pool. The large indoor pool has a swim current, integrated massage recliner, a whirlpool and jet benches. Via big windows in the pool area you are able to enjoy the lovely view which characterizes the hotel as well.
Besides the pool area there are numerous other options to relax in such as two hammam rooms, two sauna rooms, chromo therapy showers, a relax area and several treatment rooms. One particularly nice feature is the Himalayan Salt Room with an entire wall built out of pink Himalayan salt bricks with their unique properties.
For the people who like to be more active there is a fitness center, which features the latest equipment by Techno Gym. The hotel is offering virtual training options, yoga, pilates classes which are also held in an aquatic version and kick boxing training.
Gourmet Restaurant
We unfortunately weren’t able to experience the hotels’ restaurant at the evening of arrival. The gourmet restaurant uses the freshest of ingredients for all its preparations and has a beverage menu that is meticulously chosen. Specialty beers and Italian, Swiss and French wines, are the symbol of their carefully selected and sophisticated choices.
Services
When it comes to other services the sky is the limit. The hotel offers free unpacking service on arrival and free use of the electrical bicycles or electrical Smart cars to explore the city and its surroundings. With many big cities being located on only an hour flight away from Lugano airport (Paris, Saint Tropez, Venice e.t.c) the hotel is also able to set up travel arrangements to enjoy a day of shopping or leisure in one of the cities nearby. On request the assistance of a personal shopper can be arranged as well.
Guests who prefer to shop from the hotel can enjoy the ‘beSpoke-service@Behouse’ service on request. In partnership with the new high end “mall” in Via della Spiga in Milan guests can shop while enjoying the privacy of the hotel. In order to ensure that the customers travel plans and agenda are not disrupted, the chosen outfit, produced by artisans of luxury and 100% made in Italy, can then be delivered anywhere in the world.
The View is also an excellent location for conferences and the 89 sq.m meeting room, with its dividing wall can seat up to 70 people.
Conclusion
We truly enjoyed our stay at the view Lugano. The contemporary design, comfortable rooms and unparalleled service definitely justify the View Lugano’s place in the prestigious group of “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”. The hotel lives up to its name when it comes to the view, whether it be in the morning while enjoying an espresso from the balcony or enjoying a lovely swim.
With its quiet but central location, The View turns out to be the perfect place to enjoy comfort and luxury.
