If you are looking for a very unique Audi R8, try to get your hands on this special edition ‘Selection 24’ based on the 2016 Audi R8 V10 Plus. This ultimate limited edition R8 is presented by the German automaker to celebrate the success of the Audi R8 LMS that won the 24 Hours Nürburgring on its debut last year.
This special edition R8 doesn’t just pay tribute to the latest Audi 24 Hours Nürburgring winner, but also takes into account the overall success of Audi in national and international races. To put Audi’s success in perspective, they celebrated 323 wins in national and international race assignments since 2009.
Of the ‘selection 24h’, a convenient 24 examples will be produced. Based on the V10 Plus version of the latest generation Audi R8 Coupé, it means that the limited edition will get the 5.2-liter V10 mid-engine that is good for 610 hp (449 kW) and a 0-100 sprint in just 3.2 seconds. What’s different compared to the conventional R8 V10 Plus is that the ‘selection 24h’ will get a technical package that includes improved dynamic steering, Audi magnetic ride with adaptive damper control and the matrix LED lights.
Visually the special edition is characterized by its recognizable color scheme that includes Suzuka grey as the base coat, complimented by mythos black and Misano red accents. The tricolor paint finish of course poses a resemblance to the Audi R8 LMS race car.
Additionally the front splitter, mirror caps, engine compartment cover, and both rear wing and diffusor are all finished in gloss carbon fiber. The car’s side skirts get a matt-finish and ‘R8 24h’ badging. More blacked out parts include the R8’s exhaust pipes and its 10-spoke 20-inch forged aluminum wheels that get an anthracite black finish.
The bespoke styling continues on the inside of the coupé with full-leather upholstery and trim in grey with Alcantara headlining. Cool feature are the exclusive entry lights on the doors that project the Audi R8 logo onto the road surface. Once the doors are opened, eyes are immediately drawn to the illuminated door sills that display the serial number of the car.

There will most likely be a run on the limited-built car and therefore chances are pretty much non-existent of you owning one, despite its modest €229k price in Germany. Audi are now taking orders for the special edition R8 and if you care to see it in the flesh, the supercar will be at display on the Audi paddock at this year’s 24 Hours Nürburgring.
