Audi has priced the 2016 R8 V10 from $162,900 in the United States, the same price as the outgoing V10-powered R8.

The 2016 R8 V10, with its 540 horsepower and 398 lb-ft 5.2-liter V10 engine and seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission, is the new entry-level R8 seeing as Audi has decided to not offer a V8 model in the new-generation of the car. Moving up a rung in the model range will land you in the R8 V10 Plus, which starts at $189,900 in the U.S. and offers up 610 horsepower instead of 540.

Without the V8 model, the Audi R8 is no longer the highly affordable supercar it once was. The standard V10 model’s appeal has gone up, though, costing the same price but offering extra power over the old car along with a highly improved dual-clutch transmission, a lighter and more ridged chassis, modern new looks and a better designed cabin. The V10 Plus model has gone up in price by about $6,000, but still undercuts much of the competition.
