Video: Ferrari F12tdf Makes Track Debut at Mugello

On the back of the 2016 Ferrari F12tdf’s world debut at the Finali Mondiali Ferrari 2015 event held at the Mugello circuit, two examples hit the famed circuit for the first time allowing spectators to be the world’s first to see the car live and in action.

Powering the car is the same 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine as the F12 Berlinetta. However, power has been significantly increased from 719 hp up to 770 hp at 8500 rpm. Meanwhile, torque has been bumped from 509 lb-ft to 520 lb-ft at 6750 rpm with 80 per cent of that peak torque figure available from 2500 rpm.

As you’d expect from such incredible figures, the F12tdf is exceptionally fast and while the red and yellow examples weren’t being driven to their limits during the demonstration laps, we do get a chance to hear the upgraded engine and exhaust system for the first time. Additionally, the composure and sheer presence of the F12tdf on track is undeniable.

Beyond the boost in power over the F12 Berlinetta, the F12tdf is also significantly lighter and makes use of a selection of visual and aerodynamic improvements. In terms of weight, it is 110 kg lighter than the F12 Berlinetta thanks largely to the extensive use of carbon fibre. In terms of downforce, it has been increased by 30 per cent.

One other pivotally important development of the F12tdf is its utilisation of an advanced all-wheel steering system.
