German Designer Creates Futuristic Mercedes-Benz Concept

As part of his bachelor thesis for his design university, transport and industrial designer Matthias Böttcher created a very futuristic Mercedes-Benz concept which takes inspiration from the 300SL Gullwing of the 1950s.

The car has been dubbed the SL|PURE and as with lots of other automotive creations dreamt up by new designers, it is undeniably futuristic and certainly not fit for production. Despite that fact, it is clearly identifiable as a Mercedes-Benz and is incredibly sleek.

Mercedes-Benz concept rear

One of the most immediately noticeable design features of the SL|PURE is that it doesn’t feature a windscreen or side windows. While the absence of glass would make it unusable on the road, it does help to create a very aerodynamically efficient body which when combined with butterfly doors, makes for a very nice car.

At the rear, the taillights are quite similar to those of the Aston Martin DB10.
