After being unveiled early last year, the first official video of the insanely potent Ultima Evolution has just been released. Showing the car hitting the streets of the United Kingdom, it is immediately apparent that the Evolution has been developed with one thing in mind; performance.

The new Ultima Evolution Coupe and Convertible replace both the Ultima GTR and Ultima Can-Am. As with those outgoing Ultima models, the new Evolution cars can be ordered with a Chevrolet sourced LS V8 engine with 15 different power tunes available. They range from the entry-level 350 hp model through to 1020 hp.

The very first Ultima Evolution Coupe to be produced is a range-topping model and consequently utilises a supercharged 6.8-litre V8 engine. Alongside the 1020 hp figure, it also extracts 920 lb-ft of torque. What that means is that the lightweight British sports car will rocket to 96 km/h (60 mph) in a mere 2.3 seconds as well as 160 km/h in 4.9 seconds. The range-topping Ultima Evolution Coupe will continue to accelerate to 241 km/h in 8.9 seconds as well as a 386 km/h top speed.

Beyond the potent engine, the key reason why the Evolution is so fast is that it tips the scales at just 950 kg. That overall weight figure comes despite the fact that it comes standard with air conditioning, an Alpine entertainment and sat-nav system as well as Bluetooth, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors and leather and alcantara upholstery.
