An image of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG has just leaked online alongside a selection of details about the updated all-wheel drive hot hatch.
While the legitimacy of the following image isn’t known, it does show the A45 AMG equipped with the optional Edition 1 aerodynamics package and a selection of new details. These include subtly modified headlights as well as redesigned air intakes, a different front bumper and extra gloss black canards.
More interesting than the styling changes are the claimed performance gains. Mercedes-Benz has already confirmed the A45 AMG will get more power and torque to take back its crown from the Audi RS3 Sportback. According to this flyer, the hot hatch’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be upgraded from the current 355 hp to 376 hp. Additionally, a range-topping A45 AMG S variant could be offered with 395 hp on tap.
Alongside these changes, it is likely that the car will be dubbed the Mercedes-AMG A45 and A45 S in line with the German marque’s latest AMG powered models.
The facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class range is expected to launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 in September. It remains to be seen if the A45 will debut alongside the rest of the range.
