While the Porsche 918 Spyder is technically the successor to the mighty Porsche Carrera GT of a decade ago, the two are actually quite different machines arguably making the Carrera GT all the more desirable.
For starters, the Porsche Carrera GT features a naturally-aspirated 5.7-litre V10 engine delivering 612 hp at 8000 rpm and 435 lb-ft of torque. By comparison, the 918 Spyder uses a 4.6-litre V8 with two electric motors for a combined 887 hp. Elsewhere the Carrera GT is rear-wheel drive and features a manual transmission while the 918 Spyder is all-wheel drive and only available with an automatic paddle shift ‘box.
What all of this means is that while the 918 Spyder may be faster, the Porsche Carrera GT will always be considered a classic and regarded as one of the greatest supercars/sports cars ever created. As such, examples very rarely hit the market but now a pristine black Carrera GT has been listed up for sale in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Pricing details haven’t been released but the car has travelled a mere 1287 km despite being a 2005 model.
