Not only is the McLaren Technology Centre the home of all McLaren road and race cars, but it is also well known for its ‘Boulevard’ which always has some of the world’s greatest racing cars and road cars on display. Now a very special McLaren F1 GTR has been added.
This particular McLaren P1 GTR is chassis #06R and it is currently on display alongside the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans winning McLaren F1 GTR Chassis #01R. While #01R managed to walk away with the win, #06R stormed up to take third place in the same race.
Beneath the skin, the McLaren F1 GTR is powered by the same 6.1-litre BMW-sourced V12 engine as the road going car. Various changes were done to the body to ensure improved cooling with the installation of a large rear wing also distinguishing the F1 GTR from the road car.
