The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is an incredible car that features technology that has never been seen before, now Mercedes-Benz have officially unveiled the Mercedes-Benz S 600. The big news is that the S 600 still features a massive V12 engine like previous S 600’s but do not think that the 2015 car features the same 5.5 litre V12 are the previous generation. In a world of economy and efficiency, Mercedes have made an even bigger engine for the car, a 6.0 litre unit. Its output registers at 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. That’s 13 more horsepower than before but the real story is the torque level, which peaks at a remarkably low 1,900 rpm.
The Mercedes-Benz S 63 that has been fettled with AMG magic may be more powerful and hardcore with its 5.5 litre V8 that produces 585 horsepower but the Mercedes-Benz S 600 offers a much more complete package but is still tenaciously quick. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S 600 will sprint to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.6 seconds and onto an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The engine may be a thirsty V12 being a Mercedes-Benz it is still features efficient technology such a fuel-saving stop-start system. Gear shifts are handled by the fantastic 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed automatic.
In terms of visual changes, the dark blue example pictured above features quad exhaust pipes similar to those featured on the S 63 and S 65 AMG. It obviously features S 600 badging as well as V12 badges at the front.
Inside it is all typical Mercedes and that certainly is no bad thing. Driver and passengers are cocooned in the softest leather and a whole raft of massaging seat options that cool and heat. As with the other S-Class models there are huge info screens that accommodate the majority of controls and settings.
Being the flagship S-Class model, the Mercedes-Benz S 600 also gets a comprehensive list of features as standard. The very impressive Magic Body Control suspension, which is not available on the S 63 AMG, with Road Surface Scan and the Driving Assistance Package, all come as standard. The latter comprises Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist autonomous driving, PRE-SAFE Brake with Pedestrian Recognition and PRE-SAFE PLUS a whole host of driver aids that mean you can spend more time enjoying the S Class in comfort!
