New Keating Bolt Supercar Aims at Exceeding 340mph

The fit and finished may be shoddy to say the least, but this car that look likes something for GTA V, taking styling cues from a number of other cars, might be the world fastest car in the not too distant future!

The Keating built ‘BOLT’, which is a similar size to a McLaren P1, is powered by a 7.0-litre V8. The engine, sourced from General Motors, transmits its power to the rear wheels via a six-speed transaxle gearbox. The car pictured ‘only’ produces around 640bhp. With a target kerb-weight of less than 1200kg the car should be very quick. But there is a more powerful car, an 800bhp version of The Bolt is claimed to accelerate from 0-60mph in 2.0sec!

These figures however, so not seem enough to conquer the mighty Bugatti Veyron’s record. The cars, which are hand built in a small workshop by a team of approximately three staff (possibly explaining the rough finish of the car), are specified by customers from the ground up. Keating offers a twin-turbocharged version, outputting 1000bhp-2500bhp, and a 750bhp supercharged model is also on offer. Customers can, if so inclined, choose their own engine. Yes that was 2500bhp you just read. That 340mph+ may not seem too ridiculous. Well it still does, Bugatti worked for years and years with a huge Volkswagen money pot to craft the Veyron and there were a number of limiting factor that stopped the Super Sport going any faster and, for the time being at least, we can’t really envisage this Bolton built 3-man-build to conquer that car let alone the 300mph mark!
