The upcoming BMW i8 sports car has been spotted testing yet again with the latest images showing the production car’s interior for the very first time.
As the image below shows, the interior includes an LCD gauge cluster but in a somewhat surprising move, BMW seems to have ditched its common navigation system and display with this prototype sporting two temporary dashboard displays instead. Apart from those notable features, the interior of the BMW i8 remains traditional BMW in its overall layout and the buttons and dials used.
From the exterior, these spy shots clearly highlight that the car will retain many of the unique styling aspects featured on the concept car, although many of the impressive curves and sleek lines of the original have been dulled down to suit everyday driving.
With that being said, the BMW i8 is set to be quite an impressive performance machine with a 4.8 second sprint to 100km/h predicted thanks in part to the cars lightweight construction as well the 170hp electric motors and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine developing 223hp and 295lb-ft of torque. Consequently, the BMW i8 is set to be extremely efficient. As a matter of fact, some reports claim that the i8 could achieve a claimed average of around 100mpg when driven calmly.
