We showed you the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring at the Concorso di Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013. The car has now won the ‘Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes’ asvoted by the public. The “Concept Cars & Prototypes” class is coveted by many but Alfa Romeo seems to like it more, they won the same award last year with the Alfa Romeo 4C.

The Touring Superleggera Disco Volante was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 as a concept car, premiered at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 in production spec and is based off the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Due to these underpinnings, the Touring Superleggera Disco Volante is predicted to come with a very similar V8 engine as the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and is therefore predicted to produce around 450hp and 480Nm of torque at 4,750rpm.

The Touring Superleggera Disco Volante was able to beat other contenders as the Sergio Pininfarina Concept, the Infiniti Emerg-E Concept and the Subaru Viziv Concept. The car pays homage to the Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 “Disco Volante”. Each car takes 4000 hours to build and two more are on the way, other than the one shown at the event.
