Spotted: Two of Six McLaren 12C Project Alpha’s Captured

We hadn’t heard anything about the mysterious McLaren MP4-12C Project Alpha since August when an official brochure for the car was leaked, until today however. Exotic car spotter hertj94 was lucky enough to spot two of the six Project Alpha cars reportedly commissioned by McLaren Chicago for six of its most valuable customers.

This is the first time we have seen pictures of this special edition in the flesh, and the exterior modifications are clearly evident. First and foremost, the most prominent visual changes include the blacked-out roof, front splitter, the rear bonnet (which has the McLaren logo in black) as well as two additional air vents sitting atop the front arches of the car.

At the moment, those are believed to be the only changes over the regular MP4-12C, however, we can reveal that because the Project Alpha cars were constructed this year, they come fitted with McLaren’s upgrades for the 2013 model year which include a power boost up to 616 horsepower, a new and louder exhaust system, as well as recalibrated gearchanges for improved acceleration.

It’s believed that only four of the planned six Project Alpha cars have been sold, meaning there are still two units available for any interested readers out there!
