A remarkable car was unveiled at the stand of MTM. The German tuner presented the MTM T 500 2.5 TFSI 4motion ‒ based on a Volkswagen T5 ‒ at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. This powerful edition of the VW Transporter is patriotically colored in reference to the upcoming European Football Championship.

MTM have fitted the 2.5 straight-five TFSI engine as found in the Audi TT RS and RS3 into the engine bay of the Volkswagen. The engine as been upgraded to boost an impressive 472 horsepower and a maximum torque of 625Nm.

Power is transferred to all four wheels via a modified transmission. These tweaks enables the light commercial vehicle or peoples-carrier to hit a top speed of 280km/h, making the VW an ideal van for those in a hurry.

The suspension has been upgraded as well, just like the brakes. For stopping power the MTM T 500 relies on large disc brakes, firmly gripped by two six-piston fixed callipers at the front axle. To complete the overhaul, the VW has been equipped with 9×20 inch MTM Bimoto rims wrapped in 275/35 ZR20 Michelin SuperSport tyres.

This amount of power comes with a price, the MTM T500 costs just under € 160,000 Euro. And for those interested, the German flag is optional.

  1. Remember when Porsche/VW built a similar car , based on the Micro Bus back in the day as a chase vehicle for testing the then new 959 , with Porsche Turbo AWD lowered and a creaming mad monster of a van ?

Well this is the 21st century version IMHO. Two thumbs up
