Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera will present a prototype at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 that dusts off a legendary Italian sports car: the Alfa Romeo C52 “Disco Volante”. The concept – shown in the teaser above – will be called Disco Volante 2012 and will follow the lines of the 1900 Alfa special version produced in limited series in 1952.

The Disco Volante 2012 will be based on the mechanics of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Power is coming from a 450hp 4.7 liter V8 linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shifters behind the steering wheel.

The spaceframe chassis of the 8C will be combined with a hand beaten aluminum bodywork and some use of carbon fiber reducing the overall weight of the ultra-sporty concept. The car has an extremely low drag coefficient of 0.25, according to Milan-based company Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera.
