The Aston Martin Cygnet city car is expected to be the first ever Aston Martin EV in the history of the UK brand. The e-Cygnet will be based on the proposed electric Toyota iQ. The launch is due to 2012 and the market release is set for 2013.
Aston Martin chief exec Ulrich Bez revealed this information in an interview with British Car Magazine. He thinks that an electric Cygnet fits the brand, but is more sceptical about bigger sports cars having complex hybrid and energy recovering systems. So no KERS or hybrid drive trains for Aston Martin in the near future.
I’d rather have Toyota iQ EV :)
