The Audi AS5-R isn’t a complete new one, but a reviewed version of the AS5. ABT will bring this R-variant to the Geneva Auto Salon next week. When reading ‘R’ we directly think about a fast powerfull beast, but that’s only half true. The AS5-R is powerfull with it’s 510 bhp but it does ‘only’ 183 mph (292 kmh). As you might expect that’s not without reason. The ABT engineers thought about our environment and managed to create CO2 emission of only 0,56 g/km. That is 25 g. under the standard Audi S5 level. Despite that the AS5-R is spriting to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
As optic changes you get a front spoiler accentuating the ABT grill and the striking section around the fog lights, inner fender skirts and the gill-shaped air inlets providing contours to the side of the ABT AS5-R. They have also succeeded the rear with the ABT rear-skirts and 4 exhaust pipes. The designers of ABT recommended the 20 inch BR alloys as the perfect accessory.
