New images of the upcoming Audi R8 Spider landed in our mailbox today. The presentation of the Audi R8 Spider is planned for the end of next year, most likely at the IAA 2008. Almost a year away from introduction we can share some facts and rumours about the Audi R8 Spider with you already: the new R8 Spider will get the same 4.2 liter V8 as the normal Audi R8. But Audi also announced that the Audi R8 might also see a V10 version, possibly the same V10 as in the Lamborghini Gallardo that is also used in the Audi S6 and S8. Hopefully this V10 engine also makes it into the Audi R8 Spider. One thing is for sure, the new Audi R8 Spider with or without the 5,2 liter V10 can become a serious player in the supercar convertible field!
The R8 Spider won’t be the most exotic supercar convertible out there but if it handles and performes like the normal R8, the new Audi R8 Spider will definately give the Porsche 911 convertible and Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster a run for their money.
