Flagship Range Rover Could be Partly Hand-built

On the back of reports that Jaguar Land Rover is considering an ultra-luxurious version of the Range Rover to rival the Bentley Bentayga, the company has hinted that elements of the car could be hand-built.

While recently speaking with Autocar about the potential new model, director of JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations Paul Newsome said that a Range Rover model with a starting price in excess of 200,000 pounds is possible.

“I can see something that would sit above the existing Range Rover model. It would have to have a unique style and different looks [to the current Range Rover].

“You could imagine a car with aluminium [body] panels which would be hand-finished and hand-matched. Something that potential buyers could watch being made,” he said.

Additionally, Newsome believes that such a model wouldn’t necessarily be focused on having advanced technologies and rather offer unrivalled craftsmanship.

Autocar suggests that the range-topping Range Rover would be based around the SVAutobiography but takes things to an entirely new level.
