The new Bentley Flying Spur ‘Beluga’ edition has been launched with the moniker likely influenced by the automaker’s Beluga Black colour scheme and not by the caviar of the same name.
This specification is solely available on the V8 model of the car and not the one that features the 6.0-litre W12 engine. The car has been given several exterior and interior trims to make it look more visually appealing and athletic.
Buyers will now get 20-inch ‘Black and Bright’ machined alloy wheels with a gloss black radiator matrix. On the inside, there are “swathes of piano black veneer” along with knurled paddle shifters. The seats, steering wheel, floor mats and the boot carpet have been given a contrasting leather finish.
“The Beluga specification is the perfect enhancement for a modern performance saloon that perfectly blends craft and comfort,” Bentley wrote in its press release.
Meanwhile, if the customers opt for the Mulliner Driving Specification, then they will get 21-inch six-spoke alloy wheels, diamond quilted hides, a knurled gear lever, drilled alloy pedals and an indented hide headlining.
The Flying Spur is a four-door saloon based on the Continental GT. Its V8 variant has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine that produces 500 hp and 487 Nm of torque, allowing it to propel from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. The car is mated to a ZF 8-Speed automatic transmission (with Quickshift), which transfers the power to all the wheels of the car.
The 2015 Flying Spur has a host of new features, including onboard Wifi as Bentley hopes to make the car the benchmark in its segment. The ‘Beluga’ special edition is available for booking worldwide and deliveries will commence in Autumn.
