Following its introduction at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year Volkswagen has released pricing and delivery details for the German version of the Golf R.
The new Volkswagen Golf R Variant will have a starting price of €42,925 in Germany Volkswagen announced earlier today. Pre-orders of the car will begin immediately with deliveries kicking off in the spring.
The Golf R Variant is the range-topping version of Volkswagen’s most popular car. The Golf R is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission option is a six-speed dual-clutch unit that sends power to all four wheels thanks to VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
The top speed of the Golf R is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 5.1 seconds. During normal driving expect to average around 33.6 mpg.
Compared to the standard Golf, the Golf R is 20 mm lower and includes interior accents such as ‘R’ sport seats and ‘Carbon Touch’ decor.
The new Golf R is available for order now. Deliveries for the European market are expected to begin later this year.
