Goodwood FOS 2014: McLaren 650S GT3

McLaren officially pulled the veil from its new 650S GT3 car last weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car will replace the 12C GT3 in the multiple racing series it competes in around the world, and was on display outside the McLaren House booth at FoS all weekend.

GTspirit was in attendance to photograph the new 650S GT3, which is just as sinister-looking in person as it appears in these photos! The new racer has the same P1-inspired front fascia as the 650S road car, but features a more aggressive front splitter, wider air intakes on the side, a new rear diffuser and a large fixed rear wing for additional downforce. The car also sports a wider track overall, which in conjunction with revised suspension geometry, will provide the extra grip needed on the racetrack.

Other changes to the 650S GT3 include a re-worked ECU unit for the 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which has been limited to just under 500 hp as per the FIA’s rules.
