First 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Being Auctioned for Charity

The very first production ready 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is set to be auctioned off for charity of Barrett-Jackson at its Palm Beach auction in April.

Previously, the first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible models were auctioned off for charity so it is good to see Chevrolet doing the same with the more expensive Z06. The first C7 Corvette coupe managed to fetch an impressive $1.1 million while the first C7 Corvette Convertible sold for $1 million. As a result, we expect to see the first C7 Z06 selling for over $1 million!

All benefits from the sale will go to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer institute. The winning bidder won’t actually receive their car until next year meaning they’ll be able to personalise and choose its options.

Under the hood, the Corvette Z06 gets a new, LT4 supercharged 6.2 litre V8 engine which delivers at least 625 horsepower and a staggering 861 Nm of torque. The aluminium frame carries over from the Corvette Stingray and will be shared, pretty much as it is, with the Corvette Racing C7.R. It is a stiffer design which allows for a removable carbon fiber roof panel to be added.

The Corvette Z06 gets two gearbox options. The first is the standard seven-speed manual transmission comes equipped with Active Rev Match. The automatic transmission is an all-new 8L90 eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission designed to enhance both performance and efficiency. Performance data and pricing will be announced closer to the start of production.
