Nissan GT-R Nismo to Headline Tokyo Auto Salon 2014

While January is largely dominated in the automotive world by the Detroit Motor Show, the annual Tokyo Auto Salon is also quite a large show and generally sees the world debuts of quite a few vehicles. The Tokyo Auto Salon 2014 is set to be yet another must-see, with the brand new Nissan GT-R Nismo confirmed to be headlining the Nissan booth.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo on debut will actually be the specially equipped version tuned for the Nurburgring. By comparison, at the Tokyo Motor Show, the GT-R Nismo debuted in base specification featuring a smaller rear wing and a selection of other minor differences.

In addition to the new GT-R Nismo, Nissan will also bring along two awesome racing cars destined for motorsports competition next year. These will be the GT-R Nismo GT500 set to compete in the Japanese Super GT racing series next year. Additionally, the Nissan ZEOD RC Prototype set to compete in the Garage 56 experimental entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be in attendance.

In terms of the GT-R Nismo GT500, Nissan has yet to reveal any technical specifications about it. However, it will compete alongside the brand new Honda NSX Concept-GT as well as the Lexus LF-CC GT500 racers. From the 2014 season onwards, the Super GT500 Series will feature the same technical regulations as DTM (the German Touring Car Championship) meaning racing should be more competitive than ever.
