Ferrari 599 Spyder Set to Launch at Pebble Beach 2010

Ferrari has indicated that it will launch an convertible version of the 599 in August at the Pebble Beach concourse in California. Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo told Autocar that the vehicle is a roadster and that is will be sold in a limited series following its predecessor the open-top V12, the 575 Superamerica launched in 2005 with a folding-metal roof.

It is unknown whether the open 599 will have a similar roof. Di Montezemolo said it is unlikey to have the Superamerica monicker. “It will have an emotional, romantic name such as Italia or Fiorano,” he admitted. Perhaps Barchetta?

The Ferrari CEO also said that a 458 Italia Scuderia is far away. “We have no intention to do Scuderia version of the 458 yet. It would be difficult to do it better.” Regarding the upcoming 612 Scaglietti successor he stated; “We have always had clients for such a car and we want to maintain a V12 2 + 2. So we are thinking of something for the future.”
