The next generation Bentleys will come as a plug-in hybrid. Bentley CEO Wolfgang D\u00fcrheimer has revealed new details about the green technology which will propel the luxurious British cars. <\/p>\n
In an interview with Car and Driver<\/a>, Wolfgang D\u00fcrheimer said Bentley will use technology that is shared with other brands in the Volkswagen Group. The British carmaker could benefit from the developments, experience and budgets of the VW Group, which also consists of brands such as Audi and Porsche.<\/p>\n D\u00fcrheimer suggested the hybrid system could be paired with the W12 engine and the new 4.0 liter, twin turbocharged V8 – which also powers the recently unveiled Bentley Continental GT<\/a> coup\u00e9 and GTC convertible. The electric motor of the hybrid system will be placed in between the engine and transmission and will provide an electric-only range of approximately 25-30km (16-19 miles).<\/p>\n Other news coming from D\u00fcrheimer is related to Bentley SUV.<\/a> According to him, a SUV is the<\/em> possibility for Bentley to grow. The design process is an advanced stage. The SUV will be highly customizable, including a wide range of interior materials.
