One of BMW’s star designers is leaving the company: Anders Warming, chief designer of Mini since 2010, has left the BMW Group to follow a new, promising career opportunity.

The Danish-born designer, who was educated at the Art Center College of Design in Vevey/Switzerland and Pasadena/Caifornia, served as the BMW brand’s head of exterior design before moving on to lead Mini design in early 2011. He took over from Gert Hildebrand, who left Mini to head the design department of Qoros, a joint venture between Chery and Israel Corporation.

Under Warming’ lead, Mini launched a number of new models, including the Clubman and the smaller five-door Mini. He led the design of the second-gen Countryman, slated for a debut in late 2016, and he oversaw the stunning Supperleggera concept unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este in 2014. His latest masterpiece is the Vision Next 100, showcasing a futuristic approach towards autonomous driving and cutting-edge technology.
