Just to fulfill your daily dose of ‘WTF’ news, you might be interested in what a Canadian Official thinks about future driving and autonomous cars. Canadian officials released a report indicating a number of reasons why they think autonomous driving leads to more distraction behind the wheel. <\/p>\n
By far the most ‘interesting’ cause for distraction is reportedly ‘sex behind the wheel’. \u201cI am predicting that, once computers are doing the driving, there will be a lot more sex in cars,\u201d Barrie Kirk of the Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence, told CBC News.<\/p>\n
It mainly applies to the current state of semi-autonomous driving cars, where in the case of Tesla’s autopilot drivers still need to be alert at all times and intervene if necessary. It’s with a similar statement that Tesla Motors tell customers to indeed keep their hands in close proximity of the steering wheel at all times. <\/p>\n
In this regard, Kirk is concerned that a distracted driver may not be able to take over vehicle controls when needed: \u201cPeople will not be able to respond in time.\u201d<\/p>\n
