Alfa Romeo 4C at WTCC Pre Season Tests

Earlier this month it was announced the World Touring Car Championship had appointed the Alfa Romeo 4C as the safety car for the 2014 WTCC season. The mid-engine sports car will make its official WTCC debut at the Moulay El Hassan Circuit in Morocco on April 12, but it has been photographed wearing its safety car livery ahead of time during testing at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana in Valencia, Spain.

The Alfa Romeo 4C utilizes a 1.75-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 241 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 2,100-3750 rpm. The combination of its potent engine and extremely light 895 kg dry weight help the Alfa Romeo 4C sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

“The Alfa Romeo 4C is a load of advanced technology and glamorous style,” François Ribeiro, WTCC’s Motorsport Director, said in a statement.“It’s the perfect car to play the role of the safety car in a trendy series like WTCC. We are proud and excited, because the 4C moves the Alfa Romeo brand close to touring car competitions again.”
