Mercedes to Launch Four New EVs by 2020

Mercedes-Benz is planning on launching four new electric vehicles by 2020 according to new reports.

The move to release such a large number of EVs in such a short period of time comes after the German government approved sales subsidies for all electric vehicles that are priced under €60,000.

Mercedes is expected to release two electric saloons and two SUVs by 2020. According to those close to the projects, the new EV models will look unique in their styling but will share many structural components with their non-EV siblings on which the models will be based.

The move to launch four EVs is set to put Mercedes in direct competition with the likes of Tesla. The new models will likely be based on the C-Class, S-Class on the saloon front. The two electric SUVs will be based on the GLA and GLC.

Electric output will reportedly range from 75kW (101bhp) to 400kW (536bhp).

Not much else has been confirmed regarding the Mercedes EV program as of yet. We will keep you updated as more news becomes available.
