The Beijing Motor Show 2016 is only a few days away and it’s only right that we show you a preview of what to expect from Auto China 2016. GTspirit will be attending the show from April 25, it will open doors to the public on April 29 through to May 4. Also known as Auto China, the Beijing Motor Show 2016 will be held at the China International Exhibition Center.

For starters, the Beijing Motor Show is a biennial auto show that alternates with the Shanghai Auto Show to form China’s annual international auto show. Both shows have increasingly garnered the attention of global car manufacturers largely due to the fact that China is the largest and fastest growing car market in the world.

This year’s show has a number of major car debuts both from local and global carmakers. The Porsche 718 Cayman is expected to make its global debut at the show while local manufacturer, Chery, has lineup a plethora of new car debuts.

Below is a list of all the cars we expect to see at the Beijing Auto Show 2016, swipe across to discover more. We will update the list once more cars are confirmed in the coming days.

1. Porsche 718 Cayman

It’s the hardtop version of the recently revealed Porsche 718 Boxster, and like the Boxster, the 718 Cayman will ditch the flat-six engine in favor of a more powerful turbocharged flat-four engine. We expect to see the 718 Cayman at the Beijing Motor Show 2016 where it will make its world debut.

2. Lexus IS

Lexus will debut the facelifted IS model at the Beijing Auto Show 2016. The new model will receive a face already seen on the Lexus RC, GS and NX models – including the origami-inspired bumper as well as the spindle grille. The new Lexus IS should also get a similar engine lineup to the RC model range, comprising of a 2.0 liter (200t) and 2.5 liter with a hybrid unit(IS 300h). The hefty IS F should receive the signature Lexus V8 engine found on their F models.

3. Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB

A long-wheelbase version of the current Mercedes-Benz E-Class is expected to make debut at Auto China 2016. The Chinese market has proven to be a successful hub for long wheelbase cars from various manufacturers including Jaguar, BMW and Rolls-Royce. The current E-Class features a load of new luxury features, Mercedes has adorned it as the most technologically advanced sedan of all time. The long wheelbase version should benefit from features such as the Drive Pilot autonomous system and the ambient interior lighting that comes with 64 colors.

4. Jaguar XF L

Just like Mercedes, Jaguar will launch a long wheelbase version of the current XF model at the Beijing Auto Show 2016. In the Chinese market, available drivetrains for the Jaguar XF include a 2.0 liter diesel and a 3.0 liter V6 which means the long wheelbase version could use any of those. The interior should be carried over from the standard XF giving more attention to the extra space.

5. LeEco “LeSee” Electric Supercar

LeEco, the Chinese multidimensional company that provides online entertainment resources has unveiled a new autonomous electric car ahead of the Beijing Auto Show 2016. The car follows their earlier release at CES 2016 in January, with Farady Future – an electric supercar that received different views from the media.

Basically, LeSee focuses on modern social resources, emphasizing on autonomous driving as well as car sharing. Lei Ding, Vice Chairman of LeEco believes they will change the future of automobiles with LeSee by replacing traditional car ownership methods with social methods. Features on the LeSee include a folding steering wheel when in autonomous mode, auto-cloud built around cloud computing and more.

6. BAIC Motor

BAIC, the Chinese car giant plans to launch a number of cars at the Beijing Motor Show 2016. First up is a new electric supercar that leaked earlier this week on the internet. Reports suggest that the new supercar can do 0-100 km/h in less than 3.0 seconds, and a top speed of 162 mph. It comes weeks after China-based TechRules unveiled a 1044 hp electric supercar at Geneva Motor Show 2016, utilizing a concept known as Turbine-Recharging to extend the electric range.

BAIC is also expected to reveal a new SUV known as BAIC BJ90, sharing underpinnings with the Mercedes-Benz GLS. BAIC Group has joint ventures with key car manufacturers including Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz. Beijing Benz, a subsidiary of BAIC Group makes the Mercedes C and E class models in China since 2010.

7. Audi TT-RS

It’s not yet official but we expect the Audi TT-RS to make its world debut at the Beijing Motor Show 2016. Peak power should hit the 400bhp mark from the turbocharged five-cylinder engine. More details will follow about the 2017 Audi TT-RS when it goes official.

8. Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration

The new Infiniti QX Sport previews the next generation mid-size SUV from Infiniti, possibly the next QX50. It borrows design cues from the Infiniti Q60 Concept and will be revealed at the Auto China 2016.

9. Chinese Car Makers

Chery FV2030 concept

The Beijing Motor Show 2016 will provide a play field for a number of key car makers within the Chinese car market. The following is an overview of new Chinese cars expected to make debut at the show.

Chery FV2030 concept – a four door electric coupe. It will be joined on stage by the Chery Karry K60, Chery Tiggo 7 SUV and Chery Tiggo 3X SUV.

Citroën C6 – built by Dongfeng JV, the new Citroen C6 was revealed a few days ago to Chinese dealers. It shares underpinnings with the Dongfeng Fengshen A9 as they both use the PSA EMP2 platform.
